Vintage Turkish Rag Kilim. Hand woven in Western Turkey, using remnants of vintage fabrics made of wool, cotton, hemp and silk.

Kilims & Flat Weaves are rugs without the pile. Woven by tightly interweaving the warp and weft strands of the weave to produce a flat surface with no pile. Generally woven on horizontal looms, this weaving technique produces crisp geometrical designs. Being lighter in weight and softer to the touch than traditional pile rugs, kilims were also used as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, table covers and wall hangings as tapestries and insulation from the extreme cold.
